Las Rubias del Norte (the blondes of the north) play boleros, cha cha cha,
cumbias, huaynos, lieder, and cowboy songs. Fronted by classically trained
singers Allyssa Lamb and Emily Hurst, the band mixes musicians from the US,
France and Colombia who all look back to the Latin motherland most of them never
had. Their new album, Panamericana, just came out

Michael Endelman, a reviewer for "Entertainment Weekly," calls Lewis "the Emmylou
Harris of the Silverlake set, her exquisite voice masking smart, tart lyrics that
question God and poke at politicians." Jenny Lewis will take the historic Academy
of Music stage with her bluegrass-style backup singers the Watson Twins for a
night of gospel-harmonized sounds with irreverent themes. Opening acts will be
the three-man Brooklyn rock band Vietnam, and California singer/guitarist Michael
Runion.
