Late Breaking June 13, 2008

This Saturday, June 14, the Hudson-Chatham Winery hosting a Father's Day Kick-Off Event that'll be fun for the whole family!
Ghent NY (JUST PAST CHATHAM ON 66)

The folks at Grazin' Angus Acres and Trowbridge Farms are bringing their grills and cooking burgers, dogs, and sausages - all from their pasture-fed, organic, and locally raised beef!
The band The Digits (Athens, NY) will be playing, too, so you can take your lunch (and glass of wine) and enjoy some great rock 'n roll.

In the tasting room, you can get wine by the glass and the bottle to enjoy outside. We'll also be doing tastings for those who can't decide. Food, sides, and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold by Grazin' Angus and the 4H. There is no charge for the band. It's a day to hang out, listen to some good music, and enjoy some of the best barbeque in Columbia County while sipping some fabulous wines!

The BBQ starts around noon and the band starts playing at 1. Event goes til about 5. Grazin' Angus is charging for what they grill, and 4H is collecting for non-alcoholic drinks and sides. There is no charge for the band.

Thursday, June 19 – Missi St. Pierre CD Release Party along with Neptune. North Adams native, Missi St. Pierre celebrates the release of her first album (on Table of the Elements), Specimens, with a concert and party at Café Latino. She will be joined by Neptune from Boston, a band that crafts its own instruments from items that others might consider trash.

www.myspace.com/melissastpierre and www.neptuneband.com

Play Figure VII from Specimens

MELISSA ST. PIERRE tosses classicism and post-classicism overboard, utilizing the prepared piano -- John Cage's notorious instrument of choice -- and electronic enhancement to sail resolutely in the direction of rock & roll. Peppering the strings, hammers, and dampers of the piano with a variety of objects, she transforms the instrument's typical timbre: sparkling gamelans chatter; harrowing voodoo drums call out in the night. Rivals famed electric harpist Zeena Parkins as conservatory arsonists with a decidedly Hendrixian flair.
